Cherry Furniture
All of our cherry wood furniture is solid cherry. Don't settle for anything less.
Black cherry is the best type of cherry for making furniture because it is a strong durable wood that carves well and can also be worked with mechanically. Depending on what part of the tree the cherry wood is cut from, the grain can be curly or straight. The black cherry wood is excellent for making cherry furniture with little or no warping, swelling or cracking when properly dried. Cherry furniture can be stained, or left natural, taking advantage of the natural beauty of the woods rich red-brown color. Small imperfections or “sap pockets” add to the natural beauty of the wood.
Other types of cherry are not really used to make fine furniture. Most cherry furniture is made from black cherry, a tree that grows along the east coast of the U.S. and is found as far west as the Mississippi river. Black cherry, like other fruit bearing and non fruit-bearing members of the cherry family, are of the family Rosaceous. These cherry trees grow as tall as 100 feet and can be up to 3 feet wide at the stump.
So when its time to replace furniture, consider a nice cherry bedroom set or a cherry dining room table. High quality cherry furniture is the type of furniture that is called heirloom furniture and will withstand hundreds of years of use when properly taken care of.
